Royal Philips, global health technology leader, and Siloam Hospitals Group, the leading private healthcare provider in Indonesia, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to advance artificial intelligence capabilities in Indonesia’s healthcare system. The company will also collaborate with UPH Medical Sciences Group.
The program supports capacity development, knowledge sharing, and activating advanced AI solutions for transforming clinical care and digital health. This collaboration will improve healthcare delivery and contribute to a more sustainable health infrastructure across the entire nation of Indonesia, thus offering better care to more people, thus supporting the strategy for improving healthcare delivery and clinical outcomes through enhanced access, embracing digital transformation, and taking operational steps by the government in Indonesia.
Focal areas in the collaboration are as follows:
- AI-Driven Clinical Care: Philips will be implementing its AI technologies in the service of Siloam Hospitals at the greatest heights in radiology, pathology, cardiology, and clinical operations. This would encourage a more efficient workflow and higher efficiency in clinical decision-making when care is given in diagnosis and treatment of patients.
- 2. Capacity Building and Local Expertise: This MoU focuses on developing local AI and digital health expertise in collaboration with the UPH Medical Sciences Group. Training programs shall be developed for healthcare professionals, IT specialists, and UPH students so that they become adequately equipped to apply AI in clinical environments.
- Global Knowledge Sharing: Philips will share best practices in healthcare informatics and AI with Siloam Hospitals and UPH and the global healthcare strategies of the company to help design solutions accessible to Indonesians.
- Digital Health Transformation: The healthcare management system of Siloam Hospitals will be integrated with AI, consisting of the use of telemedicine and electronic medical records. This integration will enhance patient care and optimize its operations, especially to the most distant patient populations.
- Conforming to the Indonesian Government Health Objective: The partnership is designed for the realization of the goals pursued by the government of Indonesia, namely enhancing quality and making healthcare more accessible.
While Caroline Riady, the deputy president director of Siloam Hospitals Group, was of the opinion that “This partnership is a significant step toward bringing more high-end healthcare technology to Indonesia,” Roy Jakobs, the CEO of Royal Philips, elaborated the critical role AI and informatics play in the development of more accessible and effective healthcare.
